Net salary calculator from the RAL

Enter your gross annual salary (RAL) and see what's left in your payslip. The calculator applies the 2026 tax rules (IRPEF brackets 23/33/43%, employment deductions, tax-wedge cut, INPS contributions and surcharges) and also estimates the cost to the company.

If you're not based in Italy, RAL (Retribuzione Annua Lorda) is the figure Italian employers quote in a job offer: the gross yearly salary before any deductions. It's not directly comparable to a take-home number from another country, since Italy's INPS contributions, IRPEF brackets and regional surcharges are structured differently. Use this tool to turn an Italian RAL offer into the monthly and yearly amount you'd actually receive.

Indicative estimate based on 2026 tax rules (IRPEF 23/33/43%, art.13 TUIR deductions, tax-wedge cut, INPS 9.19%). Actual amounts depend on the national contract, regional/municipal surcharges, INAIL rate and personal situation: they don't replace the real payslip. Contribution reliefs apply only to new hires meeting specific requirements.

How net pay is calculated from the RAL

The calculation starts from the RAL, the gross annual salary, and subtracts the employee INPS contributions (9.19%, or 5.84% for apprentices), the IRPEF net of employment deductions and the tax-wedge cut, and finally the regional and municipal surcharges. What remains is the net per year; divided by the number of payments (13 or 14) it gives the net per payslip. All amounts follow Italy's 2026 tax rules: IRPEF brackets of 23% up to 28,000 euro, 33% up to 50,000 euro and 43% above, article 13 TUIR deductions and the tax-wedge cut (tax-free amount up to 20,000 euro of income and an extra deduction up to 40,000 euro of taxable income). How much is withheld from the RAL?+

On average between 25% and 33% of the RAL goes to contributions and taxes, depending on income and region of residence. The higher the RAL, the larger the IRPEF share as you reach the 33% and 43% brackets.

Is the calculation valid for 2026?+

Yes. The calculator uses the 2026 tax rules: IRPEF brackets 23/33/43%, employment deductions (art. 13 TUIR), the tax-wedge cut and the official regional surcharge rates.

Can I also calculate the cost to the company?+

Yes. Besides net pay, the tool estimates the company cost: RAL plus employer contributions, INAIL and TFR, minus any hiring contribution reliefs.
